Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask most, in one place.

General

What is Flagpie?

A daily flag-guessing game. Every day there's a new country, and the only clue is a pie chart showing the exact colour breakdown of its flag. Five guesses, hints unlock as you go.

Is Flagpie free to play?

Yes, and it always will be. The daily game, stats, sharing results, and the public leaderboard are all free, no account needed.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play as a guest with stats saved to your own browser. Creating a free account lets your stats and streak follow you across devices.

How is the pie chart calculated, are the percentages exact?

Yes, genuinely exact. Each flag's colours are measured directly from its official design, pixel by pixel, not estimated or rounded to something that looks clean.

Why do some flags show small dots below the chart?

Some flags have tiny design details, a thin outline, a small emblem, that make up less than 1% of the flag's total area. These are left off the main chart so the percentages always add up to 100%, rather than showing something like 0.3%. If a flag has any of these, up to 5 show up as small dots underneath, so you're not missing the full picture, just the exact number.

Why does Flagpie include places like Taiwan, Kosovo, or Palestine?

Flagpie covers the 193 United Nations member states, plus a handful of other places, Kosovo, Palestine, Taiwan, Vatican City, and Western Sahara, that have their own distinct, official flags and commonly appear in standard country lists (the same kind used for ISO country codes or international sporting events). They're included because they have real, recognisable flags worth knowing, not to make any statement on political recognition or sovereignty, which is a matter for governments and international bodies, not a flag game.

Is Flagpie affiliated with any government or political organisation?

No. Flagpie is an independent, one-person project with no government, political, or organisational affiliation of any kind.

Gameplay

How many guesses do I get?

Five.

What hints do I get, and in what order?

Each wrong guess unlocks the next hint: neighbouring countries, then population, then size, then continent. Your fifth guess is the last chance, no new hint after that.

What happens if I run out of guesses?

The answer is revealed, and you can see the real flag.

Can I play past days I missed?

Yes, through the Archive, which is a subscriber perk, subscribers get full access to browse the calendar and play any past day.

Accounts & Streaks

What happens to my streak if I miss a day or get one wrong?

It resets to zero. Your best-ever streak stays saved separately, even after your current one ends.

Do my stats carry over if I create an account later?

Yes. If you've been playing as a guest, your existing stats merge into your new account the first time you sign in.

Can I change my username?

Yes, from your account page, with a 30-day cooldown between changes.

Archive & Subscriptions

What's included with Lifetime or Monthly Access?

Full access to the Archive, extra statistics (like your best continents), zero ads, and early access to new features and game modes, including Flagpie: Draw.

What's the difference between Lifetime and Monthly?

Lifetime is a one-time payment for permanent access, but it's only available to founding subscribers in the first few months after launch, once that window closes, it's gone for good and won't come back. Monthly is billed every month and can be cancelled any time. Both include the exact same benefits while they're both available.

Can I cancel my Monthly subscription any time?

Yes, from your account page. Cancelling stops future billing, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Flagpie: Draw

What is Flagpie: Draw?

A separate daily game where you draw the day's flag yourself, entirely from memory, using a colour wheel and some simple drawing tools.

How is my drawing scored?

Three ways, then averaged into one score out of 100: Colour Accuracy (how close your shades are to the real ones), Colour Proportion (whether you used the right amount of each colour), and Placement (whether your colours ended up in the right spots).

Is Draw available to everyone?

It's currently in an early testing period for subscribers only, while feedback comes in. It'll open up to everyone once that's done.

Data & Privacy

Do you sell or share my data with anyone?

No, never. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

What happens if I delete my account?

Your account and associated stats are permanently removed. This can be done any time from your account page.
